About Trefoil Guides, and how we check facts
Trefoil Guides is published by Trefoil Studio. We write short, practical guides to new games, patches and game-adjacent projects, and we hold every page to one rule: each fact links to where it came from and shows the date we last checked it.
What counts as a source
We use primary sources first: developers' patch notes and news posts, official store listings, official item shop pages, project repositories and the game's own documentation. Other guide sites can point us at something to check, but we never publish a fact because another guide said it, and we never copy their text or screenshots.
What a check date means
A check date is the day we opened the source and confirmed the fact against it. It is not the day the page was written. Each guide shows the oldest check date on the page next to the title, so you can see at a glance how fresh the weakest fact is.
Our build refuses to publish a guide when any fact is older than that guide's freshness limit, or when a time-limited fact (such as an item shop date) has passed. Fast-moving pages, like item shop prices, have limits of days. Slower ones, like patch explainers, have limits of weeks.
What we label as our own
Where a guide gives advice, a checklist or an interpretation, the text says so. Unless a page explicitly says we tested something in-game, we did not, and we do not describe imagined play sessions.
What we will not publish
- Redeem codes we have not redeemed ourselves in the game.
- Links to ROMs, disc images, BIOS files, cracked installers or unofficial APKs.
- Pages written only to rank for a search term, without enough verified material to be useful.
- Official game artwork we do not have the rights to use.
Independence
We are not affiliated with any game publisher, developer or platform. Game names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to identify what a guide is about. The site has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking scripts. If that changes, we will update the privacy page first.
